The purpose of the program is to educate teens to identify anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts; teach them positive coping skills; and utilize the many community resources available. Our goal is to complement school programs by empowering teens to help themselves and their peers.
SASF plans to reschedule its SPARK in-person event to 2021 when it can be accommodated
without the restrictions of the pandemic.
In the interim, SASF is collaborating with Z-Cares to host the film Angst, which includes an appearance by Olympian Michael Phelps and a live, online panel discussion. We are working with local school districts to select a date later this year that best integrates with their mental health activities. Community or civic credit may be earned. Most schools that require this service are likely to grant credit for this relevant and timely course. Please consult with your teacher.
Separate from SASF, Z-Cares will host two online events in August, and are described below. Additional information regarding Z-Cares can be found at: https://zcares.org/about#43f9a078-cc1a-4854-9461-62f3db61ddbc
